Gilligan came home to us in May 2005 from a pet store cage crowded with guinea pigs of all shapes and sizes and rabbits too! In fact Gilligan, who was a lemon/brown agouti, was very shy and naturally hiding in a cubby with a very large bunny. He came home to us and was put in a "guinea pig's first home" . Since he was used to a crowded cage we put a stuffed squirrel in with him---and he pulled it into his hut! For all the years we had him he was very loving, and readily accepted a rambunctious satin that we named Skipper 2 to be his living mate. Gilligan loved snacks and treats, and adapted to all people and places. He never fought with guest guinea pigs, although Skipper did. Gilligan traveled with us at times, but really did not like long road trips. He would always make you feel better after a long day and loved to snuggle on your shoulder.
He will be missed very much and there will be a memorial garden for him that will grow sunflowers every year.
