Barney Awakens
by Mark Borsuk.........................................
I know it must have been scary
To wake up in another place
The safety of my arms you left
Not knowing when you'd return
The grass was green and the skies were blue
Just like back at home
Yet something new was there this day
A bridge of rainbow standing before you
I'm sure you tried to figure what to do
To lay back down or cross the bridge, into the new
You realized you could walk again
The pain you felt had gone away
Yet the pain in your heart had not left
You knew I was following
Just not yet
You mustered up the courage to cross the bridge alone
Realizing that this was not the path to take you back to home
As you crossed the bridge in tears
A hand reached out to you
He knelt down beside you and wrapped you in His arms
You knew it wasn't me
Yet any safer you could not feel
You knew you were no longer alone
He explained you were safe here in place where all pets go
To await with their owners to reunite
And to never part again
He told you there would be food to eat
And always fresh water to drink
Toys to play with
And many friends to help ease the wait
He knew you wanted me and said "just give it to time"
Eventually I'll be there with you
This time I'm never letting go
