Pansy Maize
By Marti Schultz

Her soft blue eyes peeked
From turfs of gray and white fur
Fitting in the palm of our hand
Her little body won our hearts
We were her mother, her lifeline
Snuggling in a blanket on our laps
She slept while being rocked

Dragging the sock from room to room
Flinging her body in mid air
Attacking with delight She pounced on it
Batting with her soft paws, hiding,
And then
Attacking again.

Turning her head from side to side she
Modeled the crocheted hat
Playfully placed on her head

Bounding down the hall
She innocently chased the older hissing cat
Outweighing her eight ounces
Twenty times over

Pansy Maize brought such
Happiness into our lives
She was only with us five weeks
But we will never forget her

A touch of unconditional love from a gentle Kitten.
Oh, to be so loved again!
