My late husband and his Baby
by Mary Lee Phillips.........................................
My husband and I got a Springer Spaniel in 1981 named Heidi. Heidi passed away in 1995. She was our first baby and Jim's favorite. In 1992 Jim was diagnosed with renal failure. He also began to have other health problems related to his diabetes. Though we had another dog, Sable, and later got Misty, and Maggie, his heart was with Heidi. On December 17, 2003, I was writing Christmas Cards. Jim was in his chair - dozing. He was to have a diaylisis treatment the next day, so was not feeling too good. I noticed he was 'petting' something and said Honey who are you petting. Misty and Maggie are here on the couch with me. He smiled and said "Can't you see my pretty girl - can't you see Heidi?" That was when I knew that he was dying - and called my friend to come be with me. He passed about a half hour later, telling me Heidi was there and he loved me. I truly believe the Rainbow Bridge Poem is true - and that she had come to take him home forever. Now Misty is there too and Maggie - and Sable. Maybe someday in the future they will all come to get me to take me home with them.

Thank you to all my new 'friends' who have responded to Maggie's passing. What a wonderful site this is - helping us to move on with life.

Bless you all.
