Over five years ago, my husband and I set out to adopt a cat. I have to tell you that my mother had been very ill, she had just had her foot amputated just a day before. My husband thought that a new little baby around would help me deal with the troubled road ahead of me, and boy was he right! We walked into Pet Smart, thinking of what kind of kitty we wanted when my husband spotted this beautiful gray and white cat. He wasn't like the others, he was full grown and he also had one of his paws amputated! It was like God was giving us a sign to get that cat & so we did. The adoption people asked us "Are you sure you want this one?" We said "Yes!" They asked us if we were positive that we didn't want a brand new kitten?" Again, we told them that we definately wanted this cat!! I took some home video of Pappy the very first day because I wanted my mom to see him but of course she was basically living at the hospital. She saw him & said she couldn't wait to meet him. I told her that he was special just like she was....that made her smile. She died shortly after that day & never actually met him. I was a "mamm's" girl in every way, my mom & I were best friends which is not that common for someone as young as I was. Pappy helped me cope with my grief, he gave me someone to take care of again. He loved everyone & even people who said they were never a "cat person" loved this wonderful boy. Pappy filled our lives with love, lots of laughter and contentment. Sadly, I had to put Pappy to sleep on March 29th. I held him while they did it....I love him so much it hurts. My other baby, Penny, who found us one day is sad too. I will always love him & miss him! I just wanted to put my story out there....
