Lying in the shade chewing on sticks
Shelby could do all kinds of cute tricks
Kisses when you call her, running fast as she would
She loved Jen and Bubby as much as she could
Napping with Candi on the couch late at night
With her paws laid out in front to scare away the fright
Her big black body and long swishing tail
Let you know she would do anything to avoid fail
Adopted so young she grew into herself
We could never see her anywhere else
Now she walks to the base of the bridge on one side
And sees her little buddy Scruffy with tears in his eyes
She runs oh so fast to her sweet little friend
They'll frolick in the grasses on the other end
Chasing the dropping leaves as they fall to the ground
Rolling and barking as she catches them coming down
She'll be standing on the other side waiting patiently
For the day that you are walking out there for her to meet.
