Fluffy
by Nancy Stone.........................................
Today, my son and daughter-in-law lost a beloved friend, Fluffy. These two sweet people have rescued so many cats over the years, all with their special story, but Fluffy's story is a little different. My grown children spent nine months helping rescue and feed and water animals left in the Lakeview area of New Orleans, where my daughter-in-law had grown up. The dogs were easier to rescue and get to shelters where they could be found by their owners or could find new homes. The cats were more difficult, but my children persisted. Finally a lovely long-hair started coming closer and finally let them pet her. They then learned that her owner had died during Katrina and no one else claimed her so they took her home to join their kitty family of 12 other rescued cats and one dog. In July 2006, they all moved West. They just could not abide any more evacuations and worries about all their four-footed babies. Fluffy lived four and a half good years with them. We don't really know how old Fluffy was, but she started having health problems this last week and despite all attempts to help her, she just could not go on any longer and so my son and daughter-in-law chose to let her go peacefully over the Rainbow Bridge. I am sure in my heart she will meet with those others they have helped before and will be waiting there for them. She will also be there to welcome other members of this large, loving kitty family when it is their turns. I am sure the Good Lord looks after my children and knows that they continually follow His command that we are to look after all His flocks of all kind.
