I knew the day would come
When your soft brown eyes would close for the very last time
As you slip away to the "Great Beyond".

You were my pal, my companion but now you are gone
Leaving me with this grief so profound
I won't forget you, little one...
Your soft fur, loving brown eyes
And all the things together we had done

You filled my empty home with cheer
My lonely heart with joy
No longer can I hug you or kiss the top of your head
