My Coco and My Sunshine are together again at last. I always told them that they would be someday. It took 4 years, but it's finally happened.
I'll never forget the day I first saw them. I only intended to get one of them, but they were huddled so close together and both of them hollered so much when they were parted, I couldn't bear to separate them...so I brought them both home. I picked a weekend when my Mother was away cause I knew'she didn't want any animals in the house!' When she came home, she screamed and yelled, but I wasn't about to take them back! I was completely bonded with them already!(They were so sweet-they eventually won her over anyway!)
They were inseparable. They lived in one cage, but they each had their own little wooden house inside that cage. I put a stuffed bear in the cage with them, and they slept with their heads together on its belly, their heads touching, each of their tiny bodies nestled in the crook of one of the bears arms...Sunshine on the left, Coco on the right.
We had four short, blissful months together. Then late one night, Coco got sick...eight hours later, before the Vets office even opened...he was gone. No warning, no symptoms of an illness coming on...I never even got a chance to take him to the doctor. It was March 19,2005.
Sunshine was lost. He wouldn't even go near the bear. Watching him broke my already broken heart even more. So I got him a new buddy-My Cotton. Thankfully, the two of them hit it off.
Now four years later, almost to the day, My Sweet Sunshine has gone to The Bridge. There aren't any words to describe how much I miss him, but it's a comfort to know how glad Coco was to see him.
