Mercedes unwanted puppy
by Orelia Bradford.........................................
Mercedes gave us her all, it is a comfort to know that Daimler her little brother was waiting to greet her when she crossed over. Mercedes at 4 months old was rehomed 4 times, we were the 5th family so we keep her, after being confind so much she was so happy to have room to explore.
Mercedes started out as a truck driver's road partner, but his work company objected. Several other truck drivers tried to provide a home for Mercedes until she got with my brother-in-law (Lonnie), also a truck driver. Lonnie contacted Stan (my spouse)to see if we would be willing to take her, since we had been fostering Mini Schnzuers for friends.
Mercedes was a small, salt and peper, Minture Schnzuer, who was always chained up or kenneled never had anywhere to run and play until the day she entered our lives. Once she got home and figured out that we were not going to limit her space she ran and played like the young puppy she was and continued until January 2012. During this time Mercedes had her dog friends, cousins, and brothers. Mercedes brother Daimler died in Dec 2000, we got Benz in Feb 2001 because she cried all the time. Some of Mercedes fun facts, she only weighted 11 pounds, liked huddies, loved to play with her toys, and hopped like a rabbit. Once she stopped hopping we knew her time was limited.
Mercedes loved the off lease dog park, as well as running around our fenced in yard, which we did for her. Also had to move up to a king size bed because she had to sleep between Dad and Mom everynight.
As I write this I am looking at a picture of Mercedes and Stan(dad) you can see the love. The 1st few years Mercedes traveled everywhere with us, including 2 times to the Grand Canyon. After we adopted other pets the traveling was limited, but Mercedes was always up for the task even though she normally got car sick.
As Mercedes started having health issues we worked with the Vet to give what assistance and comfort we could provide. But this last April 2012 we had to say good-bye and did the Humane thing to end her pain and suffering. The last few days we held Mercedes and put her in her old comfortable huddie, which I saved, I think she knew it was the end and that we would do whatever it took to bring her piece.
At this time we have put together an area in the house for her pictures, statues, and ashes, she is now home to stay.
When I think of Mercedes I think of the happy times which make me smile and if there is a way I hope to see Mercedes and Daimler in the after life if God is willing. I will always remember and love my fur babies past and present even our fosters. O
