Friends of mine have hearts that are bigger than all of the outdoors. They take in older cocker spaniels. They rescue them from a life of sitting, waiting and hoping that someone will take a chance and adopt them. They did just that 8 months ago. They adopted a 15 year old cocker spaniel female who had lost her family during hurricane Charley. She lived for another 8 months. And in the those 8 months she was well loved, fed, had a soft bed to lie in and always had a hand willing to pet and comfort her when she was afraid. She was deaf but she knew when kind words were said because she could tell by the look on adopted Mom and Dad’s faces.
And when her time drew near, they did everything they could for her to make her transition from this life to the next as comfortable as possible. She died peacefully in her sleep knowing that she was loved and that there were those who cared. Her life did matter and she was noticed and she left a lasting impression on those she has left behind. We miss you Cinder.
