Elegant Sassy
by Pat Smith.........................................
No matter what we asked of her, Sassy responded with grace and elegance - she wanted to do what we wanted of her and tried her best for 19 years. The final example was the night she passed. She woke me at 3 a.m. - I got up and picked her up and hugged her thinking she was hungry (she had a thyroid problem, so ate small meals often) - I put a bit of food down for her, but she just drank water and stood and looked at me awhile. I picked her up again, talking to her, hugging her and carefully put her in her night crate.I said "Good night" and went back to bed. After that she apparently left her crate and went into her spot in the hall closet where she could stretch out more - that is where I found her at 6 a.m. She had passed sometime during those few hours, quietly, with grace, in her own home and bed, surrounded by those who loved her. We miss you Sassy- your sweetness and love.
