A soft spring day a friend's despair.
Poor, poor rabbit, outside, no care.
Okay, I said, "Bring her to me."
Her eyes were wide, easy to see.
Russet and cream, soft to the touch.
Attitude -- fear. So sad -- no trust.
Kept her quiet, til the time came,
Sat T-Rex style! Now it's her name.
Held her gently, her panic rising.
Turned feet up, so surprising.
Her life she stood, on tender paw,
On the cage wire, no fur just raw.
The problem found, her feet were sore.
From today on, no more wire floor.
Just soft terry, paper litter.
Tender treatment. Better "Sitter."
Slowly mellowed. Slowly healed.
Time would mend her. Feet were sealed.
7 more years, lived just right.
Quick as she came, left us one night.
Loved and enjoyed, the big soft bunn.
Joined so many, the big long run.
Another friend goes, up on the ridge,
To meet others, on Rainbow Bridge.
