It was time to say, "Good-bye" but every ounce of strength I had, made me want to keep her here.
It was time to let her rest in a far more perfect place, but the tears upon my face, made me hold her, very near.

It was time to do the right thing, the choice was up to me, her frail life was placed within my trembling hands.
It was time to kiss her head, and stroke her soft, grey fur, and get her ready for another land.

It was time to let her go, though I knew our hearts would break, as we gently laid her in God's waiting arms.
It was time to let our friend, the small and brave and dear, be welcomed where she'd be forever, warm.

It was time to hold her close, and whisper one more time, just how much her love, had filled our souls.
It was time to give her tiny form the peace our choice would give, the peace, we knew she longed to know.

And so with loving kindness, and hearts about to break, we gave our pet to God, for, it was time!
