Gypsy,
Little wanderer,
Tiger-striped huntress
You were so petite
And beautiful,
Big, soft green eyes,
Orange fur soft like baby skin.
White tail-tip flicking of its own accord.
You gave such love and lit up our lives.
You'd tuck your head up
Beneath my hand
For me to pet your brow
And curled up on my lap
To rest for hours
So calm and softly breathing.
You were an explorer
Had to check things out
Several times a day or more--
Couldn't stay inside for long
You'd cry til you got out.
And then last night
You slipped silently by
When the door was opened--
Not for you!
You didn't come home last night.
We found you in the morning,
Lying in the drive across the street,
Too calm now--lifeless and still beautiful.
You left us so sad.
You wait now at the Rainbow's Bridge
Beside your sister Daisy
And when we next see you again
It will be like you'd never left.
We miss you so, little angel.
