"A Best Friend"

There once was a puppy,
8 weeks old, waiting in the pound
for a home and family to call his own.
A family of four with two little girls
walked in one day on a
beautiful Saturday afternoon
and had to say..
Little One,
with your cute face,
sweet brown eyes
and fur so black as soft as angel wings.
Do you want to come home with us today?
The puppy jumped up and
responded with a loud bark
and wet sweet kisses for all.
The family of four said we shall take you home
and you shall be known as
"Buddy Bear"
for you look like a baby bear
and act like someone's buddy.
Buddy Bear
was happy in his new home
green grass to call his own
to run and play and roll upon
and at night when it was time to sleep
a soft pillow of his very own to keep.
As the years went by he had
many adventures and friends.
As he grew so did his love,
His bark was strong but
his spirit gentle.
He never ate off his loved one's
plate but off of the fork just like they did.
For almost 15 years..
Buddy Bear had the same home
and stayed to play until..
God came to say...
Buddy Bear...
your time has come
your body is weak but
your spirit still very strong.
As Buddy Bear's family
was sad and didn't want to say Goodbye
they also knew he was very tired.
So Buddy Bear laid his head down went to sleep in his
loved one's arms with sweet dreams.
Buddy Bear
wake up, It's Me!
God is that you? He barked.
Yes, It's me God replied.
Buddy Bear looked around with his
big brown eyes and saw
rolling hills, streams and butterflies
and other friends barking and playing.
Buddy Bear asked..
Where is my family?
God than said..
Buddy Bear you shall see them again
someday but until than remember
that you were loved and a best friend until the very end.
Buddy Bear
ran around and played and
drank some water that was sweet as honey.
He went and laid down next to
God and placed his head upon his feet
and said, Thank You, God..
You are my best friend and closed his eyes
and had sweet dreams of his family until
he will see them again someday.
