Zues
by Samantha Hendricks.........................................
I came to you so small and frail
With big brown eyes & a cottonball tail
You taught me companionship & this was displayed
In the way that you loved me & the way that we played

With all my nicknames I came to your call
Eager for a walk or to fetch my best ball
You taught me loyalty that lasted till the end
For more than a decade we were best friends

I know on the outside people thought I looked tough
But we know its your cuddles I could not get enough
Tickle my tummy, loved you brushing my hair
They never knew I was a big teddy bear

Only in the end I grew frail and weak
And the pain did keep me from my sleep
And even though I was in pain
Not once did you ever hear me complain

For our love, I put on a brave face
So happy memories you could embrace
You knew exactly what had to be done
For my last battle I would not have won.

You looked into me eyes & spoke gently to me
Until my eyes could not longer see
Although my cottonball, its last has waved
From pain & suffering I have been saved

Your love & friendship stood the test
To release me from pain & put me to rest
So I beg that your heart hold no tears
As you remember our friendship over the years
