Lady Ying
by Sandra Martin.........................................
Lady Ying is the name of the first dog my husband brought home. Don thought that she was black; however, as it turned out she was white with black ears and a few black spots. She looked like a panda, that is why she was named Lady Ying. She was just a pup when my husband found her. She loved him so very much and he loved her. She died in his arms the morning of November 26th, 2007 at 3:50 a.m.

She lost her sister (not really, just another adopted dog) Brandy in July of this year, and our daughter Patty brought home two cats with her when she returned from Indianapolis to live home. Lady was not very fond of the cats, she was very curious about them and would bark whenever they moved. She was defending her territory and that of our latest stray, Belle. Lady thought she was Belle's mom sometimes. She was her protector.

Lady was not feeling well for the past week before her death, and we really noticed things weren't right when she never even bothered with the cats. Lady was very sweet and protective of our home. She knew when something was wrong and when someone was outside doing damage. She would let us know when the possums would come up on our deck to eat the bird food. She would let us know when the deer were out in the back.

Belle's trick was to go to the back door, scratch as if she wanted to go outside. Lady would go outside and Belle would get a cookie. Since Lady died, Belle has tried going to the back door to do her trick, but sadly noticed that Lady does not come. Belle is looking around for her and wondering where she is.

Lady Ying was a beautiful, sweet little dog who will be missed very much. I was very happy that she died in the arms of the man who brought her to us. I believe it made both of them happy and made the moment very memorable.
