My Sweet Girl
by Shanda Dennis.........................................
Last March of 2004, our son, Adam was deployed to Iraq. Until now, that moment in time literally broke my heart. Today, September 12th, 2005 runs a close second to Iraq. My sweet girl left this earth to wait for me at Rainbow Bridge. She was in kidney failure and very sick. The decision was a difficult one, however we couldn't let our girl suffer anymore. Even though, to think of the actual procedure makes one feel so guilty, the actual procedure was a precious moment for me that I'll never forget. I found the strength to be with my girl right up to the very end. I was able to cradle, kiss, caress, and tell my girl over and over just how pretty she was, and that her family loved her so much. I would only hope that I too would be able to go to be with the Lord and be able to have my loved ones surround me with their love and affection as well. She will be cremated and returned to us in a few days. I'll never forget just how much that sweet little dog meant to our family. Unconditional love is the best kind of love!
