Gizmo

GIZMO`S STORY

I may not be too handsome
I only have one eye
But I`m so cute, I kid you not
Of that I would not lie

My teeth are gone, apart from three
Street life was not so good
People would yell and shout at me
When I dared to ask for food

So there I was at the RSPCA
Resident against my will
But I ate lots, so hope that I
Don`t have to pay the bill!

My dodgy hips give me a funny walk
And the vet shaved off my fur
But give me a cuddle or scratch my ears
And I`ll reward you with a purr

I spent my days, dreaming of when
I`d have a family of my own
Who`d love me lots and I`d be safe
No longer lost and alone

I realised that my hopes were high
I never stood a chance
The pretty cats were taken home
No-one ever gave me a glance

Each time a visitor passed my cage
I gave my best toothless grin
I`d sit up straight and try to look cute
But their affections I never would win

Days became weeks, my hopes were low
But one day my dreams all came true
`He`s gorgeous` she cried, I`ll call him Gizmo
And I gazed into eyes moist and Blue

If I could cry, I`d have shed a tear
I`m wanted, I`m loved, I`m a star!
I have my own home and lovely warm bed
I`m the luckiest cat by so far

There are many sad moggies, afraid and alone
Not pretty, but plainer and old
All waiting in vain for a loving home
Who will repay your kindness tenfold.
