Alexander
by Stephanie .........................................
I didn't think that I wanted another cat after I lost my cat, Daniel, in February 1993. In April of that same year, a coworker told me about a couple of kittens that had started hanging around her house and my sister and I went to see them. Immediately one of the kittens latched himself to my sister and the other brother latched onto me. I knew right at that moment he would be the one. I named him Alexander because I had always liked that name and besides, he was great. He learned how to catch, fetch, do high-fives. We would play peekaboo around my desk chair and hide and seek. He loved to snuggle with me on the sofa and would curl up on my head almost every night and purr so hard. He was a big 17 pounds at the time. Three years ago, Alex began to lose weight quite drastically. The vet told me he had hyperthyroidism. I was able to afford the iodine treatment and Alex began to improve after that, yet not fully gaining his weight back, only a pound and a few ounces. He did quite well over the next three years, but this past December 2010, he began to decline rapidly. He stopped eating and drinking and started having seizures. I had him put to sleep Monday, December 27, 2010. He was two months shy of his 18th birthday. I am completely blessed for having him in my life all that time and I will always have him in my heart. I miss him so much. Rest in Peace my baby boy. Mommy will always love you.
