Dear Disco Dog
by Sue Ferguson.........................................
In Happy Memory of a Dear Disco Dog

What sheer delight and utter joy
Was wrapped in one sweet little boy
With plumey tail to wave and greet
Fluffy fur chaps and furry feet

Peg and Lani found comfort pure
When they'd stroke your silky fur
When Peg laid down for a short nap
Right there you were, without a yap

Though yap you would, to get your blanky
And quiet might mean hanky-panky
And you would bark with no nonsense
To bravely guard your yard and fence

Your middle name could sure be "Brave"
Like Lazarus, rose from the grave
For you too, once, the odds did beat
And rose to walk on padded feet

I think you stayed around while
To give Lani hope, and make Peg smile
You just had so much love to give
You needed some more time to live

So live you did - With wagging tail
and happy grin, you'd walk the trail
With a butt that had the cutest wiggle
That all who met you had to giggle

One cool bright morning in early May
Amy and Pepper called you to play
You heard their barks on that soft spring day
And in that instant -- you flew away

You are Disco-dancing in heaven now
With no fences there to slow you down
In our hearts forever, you have a place
For we love you beyond all time and space
With love and kisses and happy memories
