Milky - The World's Greatest Pug
by Sue Ferguson.........................................
For Milky:
The World's Greatest Pug

You had a curly puggy tail
And a little black pie-face
Eleven short, short years ago
In our hearts, you took your place

You came with yellow raincoat
Not needed in this sun
With boundless energy and joy
Round and round the pool you'd run

Then tired out, you'd float a bit
On a raft across our pool
Your snaggle-toothed grin said it all -
You thought you were so cool

Milky, you were Katie's baby
The world's best-est, greatest Pug
Katie's forever pride and joy
To be cuddled, kissed and hugged

Milky -- mischief maker!
You could open the fridge door
Inviting all the other Fergie dogs
To steal our steaks and more

You also pooped in Daddy's shoes
And he called you "bad, bad, bad"
But you looked oh so innocent
We just could not stay mad

You romped and ran with Shanti
And tugged on Xena's bone
Chased bunnies and slid down slides
Romped with kitties at our home

Running with the big dogs
Keeping up with VooDoo girl
In parks, Sedona, and Best Friends
Your tail a happy curl

Milky -- the adventure hound
You traveled far and wide
All the way up to Seattle
With Katie at your side

Planes, they didn't faze you
Though you wanted your own seat
And hoped a pretty stewardess
Might sneak you just one treat

As years passed your pug face
Grew gray and sight grew dim
You limped a bit when you were tired
And your belly wasn't slim

But we loved you more than ever
Our funny Milky Doodle
So glad that you were Katie's Pug
And not some silly poodle

One soft spring Seattle day
Your time had come to go
Shanti and Xena called to you
Too soon for us, you know

A last slow walk with Katie
You perked up your velvet ears
And Katie said her last goodbye
Amid a wash of tears

Now you are running madly
Ears a-flyin', eyes so bright
Run again with all the big dogs
Though we want to hold you tight

You are heaven's Milky Angel
But we are never far apart
We hear you panting in our ear
And feel your love within our heart
