If love alone could heal you
by Susan .........................................
If love alone could heal you,
and make you well once more,
then I would wake to find you,
sleeping right there on the floor.

Your body young and vibrant,
a smile upon your face,
if love alone could heal you,
of pain, there'd be no trace.

You'd run and jump and play,
with a stick or ball or sock,
if love alone could heal you,
we'd walk miles around the block.

If love alone could heal you,
you'd chew a bone and lay,
in the grass in our front yard,
where you loved to spend each day.

You'd be right here beside me,
so I could scratch your ears,
if love alone could heal you,
I could maybe stop these tears.

The house wouldn't seem so empty,
I wouldn't wander around and pace,
if love alone could heal you,
I would look into your face.

I'd tell you over and over,
how much you mean to me,
if love alone could heal you,
my sorrow, replaced with glee.

I miss you every second,
there's a void inside my heart,
If love alone could heal you,
we would never be apart.

There couldn't be another soul,
with so much love to give,
if love alone could heal you,
forever you would live.

If love alone could heal you,
I know it cannot be,
you know how much I loved you,
and that's enough for me.

Though love alone can't heal you,
I couldn't love you more,
I hope you are at peace now,
I'll see you at heaven's door.
