Lucy
by Tim Leatham.........................................
Lucy came into our lives so long ago
a little white bundle of fur.
She didn't belong to us, but she chose us.
I remember
The days she would play in the garden, running like the wind,
her fur blowing in the wind (she didn't like that)
I remember
Hunting the butterflys that were in the garden
I remember
Sleeping among the plants in the garden on those hot summer days
no more will she greet me when I come home
no more her loud purr
no more her company when I work so late at night sleeping at my feet till I went to sleep
The years came and went and on we continued together,
But now time and age have taken their toll
Now I will move on alone
Though Lucy has gone
I will remember
