coreys story
by kathleen taylor.........................................
we adopted corey from the humane society 6 yrs. ago. she was 9 at the time. she had four homes previously and had been at the shelter 2x, the last time for a year. I don't know why no one wanted her. She was a shepherd mix and the cutest personality you could ask for. she fit right in with our belgian shepherd, dakota, and cat smokey. they all became great friends and would actually play together regardless of their sizes.Unfortunately, Dakota died on April 4th, the day of my moms funeral. The emergency veterinarian said she had a rare form of heart disease. It was an awful experience. two months later, our cat, smokey died from kidney disease. Recently Corey was diagnosed with cushings disease. after the initial "load" she was put on drugs, but couldn't tolerate any of them. We then found out she had a pituitary tumor and a tumor in her liver. She was on medication, but it did not prevent the tumor from growing. This morning she kept falling down. I immediately called our vet and he met us at his office. Her eyes were blank and her breathing very labored. She died after he gave her an i.v. I have lost my 3 best friends in the past year. I can remember not that long ago when they were all playing and chasing each other around the house. As I sit at the computer and look at the picture of the three of them together I can't help but cry. I know they are all playing at the Rainbow bridge and that's about the only thing right now that brings me comfort. thanks for letting me share
