My Bear Esco

It was years ago that my ex and I drove the hour and a half drive to Newark Airport, we had been so excited to meet the 9week old chocolate lab puppy that we knew would change our lives forever. We knew this, and we accepted this fact. He flew in with a parrot on board the plane, when we saw his little brown head bobbing around in the small crate that the crew member was bringing to meet us, both of our hearts melted immediately we were absolutely in love with this little puppy we had been waiting for. He was truly an amazing dog in every sense. He was my "baby" and best friend, Esco stood with me through the best and the worst of times. At six years old, I noticed a dark clotting on his belly, after tests and tests in the vets office it came back as Hermangiosarcoma, a cancer of the blood. We were devastated, I wrapped him and slept on the floor with him for three months monitoring his every move putting him first before myself. He never once cried. Three months later, he went out to use the bathroom, ran to me and collapsed in my arms and in a few seconds was gone from this earth. I screamed with the pain from my heart. After a year and a half, i wouldnt change one thing we had together, the pain will never leave me, but the pain within me makes me motivated to do for the animals that need the most love of all. Always remembered and never forgotten.
