Miss Sadie Lady
by regina cagliero.........................................
Sadie was a rhodesian ridgeback/pit bull mix with a regal look to her.We miss her very much and was very close to my sons, husband, and myself. She was born 7/4/1998 and passed to the other side on 12/31/2010. She was just to ill to be herself and needed to go, but not without being reminded by us of how much she meant to us. sadie had a persona all her own. she was definetly the queen of the house, and let everyone know it. When someone was sick or sad, she was right there next to them to comfort them, wrapping herself all around that person, she got away once and followed my youngest son dylan to school. she sat on the grass all day until he got out and brought her home! meanwhile, we spent the good part of the day looking for her. she used to like to get away from my son dylan and i. we lived in a busy neighborhood and the time and we were afraid she would get hit, she knew that and 'teased' us by sprinting out, waiting to we got right next to her, then sprinting again, as if to say 'ha ha you cant catch me!' i remenber one time we were looking for her on foot, and found her on top of someone's car hood, we yelled at her to get down, then she ran home. when we got the car and came up to her, she knew the game was all over. sadie sure felt good to hug. when we did, it made all your troubles go away! when we got our second dog ariel, sadie was about 6. ariel was born blind, she had her eyes missing. sadie became her protector from all. she showed her where everything was, and kept her safe from other dogs at the park. ariel would hold on to sadie's collar with her teeth. you wouldn't even realize that ariel was blind, she got around well. sadie also protected us too. most of the time she was very mellow, but there were a few people she didn't like. we thought they were good people, but they turned out not to be. we should have trusted sadie, she was right! sadie was also a big flirt with the boy dogs, even when she was sick. always "talking" to them "arraw, arraw, waw" when they were around and wagging her butt/tail. sadie has never seen a horse before. when i took her to a resort, she saw one and crouched down in front of it, buggeyed and they touched noses. at this place, there was a man-made pond, it was very hot outside, and when she went to take a drink she slipped on the bank and fell in head first. i pulled her out and she lokked at me as if to say "what the heck just happened" i was laughing, then ariel, realizing something just happened, turned around and tried to run away, but fell in butt-first and was scared to death, then i pulled HER ou then really laughing. this caught the attention of other people. they thought it was finny too. when sadie was six, a cat was in our yard onr morning before work. sadie chased that cat up a six-foot cinderblock wall, yes she ran up six feet, right after that cat, then down. i have to say after we were laughing, i really felt sorry for the cat and scolded sadie. the cats owner informed me that the cat was not able to use the restroom in a week, being so petrified. well sadie, now you are pain-free and your long battle with cancer is over. it is your sunset after a beautiful sunrise and a long summer and fall of your life. run with all the doggies and chase all the kitty kats you want. you'll get them every time sweetie(sorry cat lovers) i know that you look beautiful where you are, like a lioness. you will have all the steak and cake you want, and your teeth won't rot, bones too. you are happy and healthy, and flirting with the boys. we will see each other again someday, when God brings us all together. hopefully you will have a big comfy people-size bed so you won't have to push anyone to the edge like you did to me(i love you baby) until i get there, you'll be okay, i know.
Love you Sadie Mama,
